The
San Diego Vocal Arts Chorale (SDVAC) is a high-level auditioned
choral organization that is dedicated to the performance of diversified
choral music. It is committed to the finest of choral literature in a
broad range of styles, with primary emphasis on uplifting,
inspirational, and spiritual principles. The SDVAC is intended
to be a vehicle for experienced choral singers to come together in a
common love for singing, with the purpose to provide spiritually
elevating experiences to audiences, through the influence of quality
music, that may motivate individuals to live more virtuous lives.
Each member of the Chorale agrees to abide by and demonstrate in daily
living those moral virtues encompassed in the gospel of Jesus Christ.
The San Diego Vocal Arts Chorale initiated its rehearsals
on March 23, 2000. It presents a variety of concerts in varied venues
throughout the year. On August 31st, twenty-four of the
Chorale’s singers traveled to Jerusalem to participate in the premier of
Lex De Azevedo’s oratorio, “Hosanna.” On December 1st, the
SDVAC performed in Mr. Azevedo’s oratorio, “Gloria,” at the
Dorothy Chandler Pavilion in Los Angeles. On May 4, 2001, the
Chorale presented “Hosanna” with the Millennium Choir and the
San Diego Symphony at Copley Symphony Hall in San Diego.
